Reading books (not only tehnical ones) is always usefull.
You either can learn something or it can be fun.
I like both combination mixed.
This weekend I read same book I have read 4 or 5 years before, difference was that first time I read it in Croatian language, and this time in English, but it was great both times.
Book I’m talking about is Microserfs, by Douglas Coupland published by HarperCollins in 1995.
As developer I’m sure you will love it, but you will probably love it even if you are not developer 
In short terms this book represents good part of geek culture, however I won’t describe it here since wiki did that better than me, I’ll only quote one sentence from author:
“A fictional story about Microsoft/Silicon Valley personalities, this is an unabashed peep in the window of The Geek Family. The book is a good compendium of geeky culture; it’s not pretty, but it can be fascinating. The narrator is the most normal representative of the team developing a virtual-lego game/toy program, and his daily diary, at selected intervals over an 18 month period, forms the unprocessed source for the book. ”
Anyway I like it so i just wanted to recommend it

Great book recommendation.
