8 Pillars University launched

A new project we worked on hit the web recently. The project is called 8 Pillars University. It is a complete learning system that provides real-world financial education. Participants gain a mastery of The 8 Pillars of Financial Greatness by completing the program at their own pace. When this project started, the initial idea was to go with WordPress and Magento duo. However, during the project we decided that in this case WordPress would be enough. By using Shopp plugin, we added the eCommerce feature and put everything under the same roof: WordPress.
8 Pillars is a project by Brian Nelson Ford, who approached Surgeworks with the idea of improving his website. After he presented his requirements, we agreed WordPress would be a perfect match for his community goals and we thought of using Magento for the eCommerce part of the site. Sometime in the middle of the project, a new WordPress eCommerce plugin was launched – Shopp. It had exactly what the client needed and it made much more sense to go with it rather than with cumbersome Magento integration in this case.
Ivan Weiler was the main developer on our site and Rafael Torales did a great work with the design.
