WordPress 2.7 Is Out—and Better Than Ever

Oh, yeah! Coltrane (WordPress 2.7) is finally out. The last time an upgrade was released, you had to update WordPress manually, which is fine if you only have to upgrade your own blog. But imagine having 15 clients—each of them wanting to have latest WordPress version ASAP.

With the newest version, WordPress includes a built-in upgrade notification so that when you’re ready, you can download, install, and upgrade your blogs with a single click.

Another milestone you will notice is an all-new admin interface.

Some of us don’t like new admin interface. I love it; Toni doesn’t. However, advantages of new interface are numerous. Plus, nearly every task you do on your blog will take fewer clicks and be faster in 2.7 than it did in a previous versions.

Other new features include:

  • dashboard has drag-and-drop panels
  • Quickpress dashboard panel for easy postings
  • reply to comments directly from the admin
  • the ability to install any plugin directly from WordPress.org with a single click
  • sticky posts
  • customizable screens
  • and more
