WordPress User Roles Explained With Table

I hope I’m not the only one who got a little bit confused when WordPress created a user role “Contributor”. My first question was, what’s the difference in privileges between a contributor and an author?

I made this table that compares privileges of different WordPress user roles (Administrator, Editor, Author and Contributor), I hope it helps you!

    Really useful, thanks! WordPress should have this table built into it :)

    I didn’t realise there was an option where people could edit posts but not be able to publish them without approval.
