Free Magento extension for Piwik Analytics

Few days ago I wrote a little extension called Inchoo_Piwik. Piwik is a free downloadable open source web analytics software. Piwik provides you with detailed reports on your website visitors; the search engines and keywords they used, the language they speak, your popular pages, and much more (official definition from Inchoo_Piwik simply connects your Magento to Piwik installation whose parameters you assign trough extension configuration screen.

Please keep in mind that this is the basic implementation which enables you to track your site in Piwik. All of the possible advanced stuff might need additional modifications of code.

Extension source code files can be found here at GitHub. It follows the structure of Magento extensions so you should be able to download it and copy paste it into the root of your Magento.

Hope it helps. Cheers.

  1. Thanks for the information. It has been very helpful for me this article about Piwik. I did not know Piwik and will start using it.

  2. There is another PIWIK Integration around, with the lack not to distinct between SSL and NonSSL URL. It may come to the point you need this feature. If someone is not using standard HTTP Ports (i.e. Varniche) this extension helps by offering two input fields. Thanks.

  3. @Quique

The “Auth Token” is used for a feature I just implemented. Reason you saw it is because I accidentally committed that part of config before time. It is used for pulling an IFRAME from Piwik into Magento. Now if you go under Magento admin Reports > Piwik Analytics you can see Piwik’s reports 🙂

  4. Thanks, great job.
Some more information about what to put in the field Auth Token.
I do not understand its usefulness.

    Gracias, magnifico trabajo.
Algo mas de información sobre lo que hay que poner en el campo Token Auth.
    No entiendo su utilidad.
