Project Overview

Tools4Painting is a company specializing in providing high-quality painting tools and accessories for both DIY enthusiasts and professional painters. Their offerings include a wide range of products such as paint applicators, protective gear, cleaning supplies, and specialty equipment designed to make painting projects efficient and effective. They focus on delivering reliable tools from top brands to help customers achieve professional-level results.

When the Tools4Painting management decided they wanted to expand their business from B2B to B2C, Inchoo was the right fit for the project, as we had already worked together on Tools4Flooring. Happy with our collaboration and the results achieved with Tools4Flooring, the client trusted us once again to create an online store with similar functionalities for their other business.

Solution

While there were some new features and integrations to take into account, we had a clear starting point, as we could use Tools4Flooring’s online store as the foundation. The same functionalities implemented for Tools4Flooring also found their way here, and all this gave our team more than enough time to focus on other areas of the project. Catalog Import

The Tools4Painting team collaborated closely with us throughout the project, actively shaping the architecture and defining key features to ensure the best possible solution for their online store.

One of those features was the catalog import, which we developed specifically for the Tools4Painting store. The way it works is a program runs automatically at specific intervals, downloading a .csv file with information regarding stock quantities in the client’s warehouses from a server and updating relevant fields in the Magento store.

Order Export

Tools4Painting is integrated with an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) that has no API endpoints for direct integration. This means the store cannot be directly connected to the ERP, making real-time data transfer impossible.

We resolved this by creating a data bridge strategy — writing a module that gathers information about all orders from Magento, exports it into a .csv format, organises data into relevant fields, and then imports it onto a server used by the store. The ERP downloads this data, updating the information stored within it, giving the client the most recent and accurate information regarding new and updated orders.

PaintCare

PaintCare is a nonprofit organization in the United States whose primary mission is to make it easy for individuals and businesses to recycle leftover paint. PaintCare is funded by fees collected on new paint sales by partnering with local retailers, recycling facilities, and municipal waste programs. These programs are typically mandated by state laws, and fees vary from state to state.

Tools4Painting already had a functionality on their B2B site that calculated this fee for each transaction. One of the requirements of this project was to integrate this feature onto the new online store. Despite the complexity and the challenges of the task, we successfully integrated this feature. Depending on the product and destination state, an additional fee might now be automatically added to each new transaction on Tools4Painting.      

Advanced SEO

For SEO, we implemented our advanced, battle-tested setup, refined over years of experience, going beyond Magento’s standard configuration. This includes a tailor-structured approach to technical SEO, featuring precise implementation of canonical tags, meta robots, optimized metadata, a well-configured robots.txt file, and a range of additional enhancements designed to maximize search visibility and drive organic traffic.

A key standout feature among is the indexation of brand category pages. This means brand category pages will appear in search engine results, giving the store an edge in visibility and discoverability.

Results

We are incredibly proud to have empowered our client in launching the B2C arm of their business with a user-friendly online store, packed with advanced features tailored to their unique needs. Building an online store is a complex process, and features such the catalog import, the integration of PaintCare fees, and ShipperHQ logic, are only few among the many functionalities that make the Tools4Painting online store.

While it will take some time to acquire key results, we’ve already seen the number of visits and impressions for Tools4Painting steadily grow since launch. This is a great indicator that we have achieved our goals and poised the store for success. We are still hard at work improving the store and excited for the success awaiting our partners.
